The Association of Industrial Security & Safety Operators meeting (AISSON) annual meeting, held in Lagos Nigeria on the 30th of November 2023.

The Chairman of Transworld Security Systems Limited and President of AISSON, in her extensive welcome address, welcomed members and reminded them that this was the first AISSON being held since the passing of the founder and first President – Dr. Ona Ekhomu, in August 2021. She traced the history of AISSON and its impact in professionalizing Private Security Industry practice in Nigeria. She pledged to keep the legacy of the founder alive and called on AISSON members to join her in taking the body to higher pedestal. She dwelt on the threats posed by new developments cyberspace and the need to rise to that challenge. She stated that it was that realization that drove the learning component of the meeting where two experts were going to give presentations on various aspects of cyber security. She welcomed both those who joined online and those physically present to the luncheon meeting and declared it open.

The business meeting focused on enlightening its members on the current Cyber Security threats in the industry and its mitigation process. Mr. Godswill Esangbedo the keynote speaker who has over 10 years’ experience in the banking industry, gave a presentation which covered various aspect of “cyber security- Cyber Attacks, Motives, Hacking, Types of Hackers & Cyber Crime”etc. while the co-speaker, Mr. Udofia Imeh, gave the “statistical cyber security financial impact worldwide in 2022 on Nigerian Banks”. He discussed in great details, what the role of a chief security officers can play in the implementation of cybesecurity measures in their organisations.

One of the highlights of the event was the Dr. Ona Ekhomu Award, presented by Col. Adesanya, to Ms. Erica Muoghalu the best performer in the Certified Protection Officer (CPO) professional examination for class L28—held in Lagos Nigeria.
